Family Research Initiative

The Family Research Initiative is a university-wide, cross disciplinary effort to link and coordinate MSU faculty who work within the various facets of family research. The aim of the Initiative is to promote and support collaborative research at MSU, encourage innovative interdisciplinary team building, and create a leading national research program on the family that cuts across disciplinary boundaries.

It was recently announced that MSU will lead Michigan’s role in an $18.5 million research contract from the National Institutes of Health to conduct the National Children’s Study, monitoring more than 100,000 children nationally from before birth to age 21. Believed to be the most ambitious children’s health study of its kind in the nation, Dr. Davies serves as a contact and spokesperson for the project. Davies is an internationally recognized scholar on the epidemiology of infectious diseases. View MSU Newsroom article about the project.
